New York is today, one of the best cities in the world. In this article we will enjoy a trip in its streets and through its infinite sights, a path that will help us discover some of the secrets of this city that truly represent the american dream and some of the thing you have to do while visiting this amazing place.

GIVE A CHANCE TO CHINATOWN

Let’s start our amazing trip with one of the most beautiful, and at the same time scariest, part of New York: Chinatown. Chinatown is composed by a large community of chinese families that speak (almost) only chinese. For us and all the people that have grown with american movies the first impression is “is the Chinatown of the movies, of the chinese mafia and the gangs” and, as you can tell from the photos below, is actually a very closed community where cameras and tourists are not completely accepted. For this reason we suggest you to be as kind as possible and to respect them and their work.

The area is very characteristic because it seems to be in a giant chinese market, people sell bamboos and roots at every street corner, fish shops sell a massive amount of unconventional foods like living frogs, turtles and obviously many kind of fishes. Fish shops aren’t the only attraction of this area, there are also many typical vegetables and fruit shops, some places that sell good-smelling spices and many chinese restaurants!

VISIT GROUND ZERO AND THE NEW WORLD  TRADE CENTER

This is surely (and sadly) the most famous part of this city. It was devastated during the attacks of September 2001 but, as a strong and powerful flower it has reflourished and it’s now the queen of New York’s skyline. Many buildings needed to be reconstructed because of the damage caused by the tragic events and now glass buildings reflects the clouds and the blue sky in a camouflage ballet. I suggest you to visit this area during the day because, especially during winter, is pretty empty and sketchy during the night many of the buildings here are only for offices so it’s not so densely populated after eight p.m. However, if you’re here during the evening you cannot miss the lights that evoque the WTC in all of its old beauty.

SPEND ALL YOUR HOLIDAY LOOKING THE SKY

New york is perfectly represented by the images below, you’ll going to live your holiday looking up, to the sky. You can’t avoid to do that, skyscrapers are will be all around you and many of them are simply fantascentific, you can’t watch your shoes in New York. And this is the funniest part of this city, every corner is unique, every street has something to say. Looking up you’ll be able to discover amazing perspectives that won’t fit in your wide angle lens, just use your eyes and memorize this beauty.

GO FOR A WALK DURING THE RUSH OUR

New York is a chaotic city, without doubts, and this is the best part. Especially if you visit the city during the week (but also during the weekend) you will be able to see how newyorkers live their everyday life. I imagine that you agree with me when I say that one of the most important part of a travel is to enjoy and understand other countries traditions. So going back on what I was saying, take a day of you holiday and live it as a local!

TAKE A YELLOW TAXI TO SOMEWHERE

The last but not the less important. Seriously, taking a yellow taxi for a night drive in this city is something special because through its windows you will discover some amazing corners and streets that you haven’t noticed while on foot. It is a good way to spend some time and have a general overview on the city.
